Description
The Whipple Museum holds an internationally important collection of early scientific instruments dating from the Middle Ages.   Whipple Museum shows instruments of astronomy, navigation, surveying, drawing and calculating, sundials, mathematical instruments and early electrical apparatus. 

The Whipple Museum forms part of the Department Of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge and plays an important part in teaching and research.

Many of the exhibits are English and represent a number of collections that have been passed to Cambridge University, as well as holding some of the instruments previously used for teaching within the University itself.

The Whipple Musuem also holds a series of talks by popular science authors which are open to the public.
