Description
Stanwick Lakes is approximately 240 hectares of former gravel pits and part of a former railway line.   The gravel pits had been worked and subsequently restored to lake, woodland and grassland, some areas of which are now of regional and international importance because of both the wintering and breeding birds using the site.

R
ecently opened to the public Stanwick Lakes now offer a variety of facilities including a network of foot and cycle paths, which are wheelchair accessible, for walking, jogging or running; a large adventure playground, a full size assault course and adventure trail and designated fishing lakes.

There are 6 fishing lakes that provide a variety of fish upto 100lbs (they claim)  for the amateur and keen angler.  As membership and the number of pegs are limited, it is advisable to book for some of the lakes.

Please note that whilst access to Stanwick Lakes is free, there is a small car parking charge.
