Description
Cambridge Scout District comprises 16 Scout Groups and 3 Explorer Scout Units in and around the City of Cambridge. There are currently 800 young people aged 6 to 25 (boys and girls) that benefit from the Scout programme and Scouting activities. This is delivered by an enthusiastic team of more than 200 adult volunteers.


Scouting in Cambridge is adventure. It provides an opportunity for young people and adult volunteers to develop leadership and team skills through camping, adventurous activities and international travel.


In 2004/05 Scout Groups in Cambridge ran over 50 camps and expeditions in the UK and Europe. In 2003 six Explorer Scouts travelled to Thailand for the World Jamboree and in August 2005 a contingent of ten Scouts and Explorer Scouts attended Eurojam at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.


Activities include camping, hill walking, canoeing, sailing, mountain biking, climbing, abseiling, shooting and archery.

The 16 Cambridge Scout Groups and 3 Explorer Units are located as follows:

  • 18th Cambridge - Arbury
  • 26th Cambridge - Chesterton
  • 27th Cambridge - Cherry Hinton
  • 28th Cambridge -  Hills Rd/ Cherry Hinton Rd area 
  • 29th Cambridge - Abbey area
  • 32nd Cambridge - Waterbeach
  • 50th Cambridge - Milton
  • 54th Cambridge - Chesterton & Kings Hedges
  • 57th Cambridge - Fulbourn
  • Phoenix Explorers - Mill Road area
  • K2 Explorers - Chesterton
  • Everest Explorers – Waterbeach
