Description
Kimbolton Castle, originally a medieval castle, underwent many changes before the Great Rebuilding by Vanbrugh, Hawksmoor and Adam, as the country house of the Dukes of Manchester. KimboltonCastle's most famous resident was Katherine of Aragon, who died here in 1536, and small sections of the Tudor house have survived.

Although the Castle now belongs to Kimbolton School, visitors can still see the impressive State Rooms, with an outstanding murals by Pellegrini.  Kimbolton Castle is set in extensive, wooded grounds, which makes for some pleasant walking.   

A tour through Kimbolton Castle takes approximately 1 hour and approximately 1.5 hours if you tour the outside as well.  Special Interest Tours are also available which focus on a particular historical aspect relevant to Kimbolton Castle.  Possible themes include:

Kimbolton Castle also provide a children's animal and Tudor trails and dressing up box to keep the children entertained.

Kimbolton Castle is open to the general public on 5th March and 4th November in 2007.   Groups can visit all year by prior arrangement - minimum cost £50.
