Description
Kentwell Hall is an impressive Tudor mansion set just outside the Cambridgeshire borders.  Over 500 years old, Kentwell Hall is definetly a family home, not a stately home.  You get to see most of the house when you visit, including some family rooms so please don't expect it to be spotless!

From its approach by a three quarter mile long ancient Lime Avenue, to its mellow soft red brickwork and broad moats everything at Kentwell Hall combines to produce an air of timeless tranquillity. Most visitors instantly feel comfortable and at home. Just walking around and drinking in the sights, sounds and smells is a rewarding experience.

Kentwell Hall Gardens hold the interest of the visitors too.   With the famous two dimensional brick-paved maze the ancient yews which are clipped to shape, the re-instated icehouse, the huge sculpted cedar trees and the yew castle, which is gradually taking shape.    They have also adapted an old gazebo which they call camera obscura where you can see the magic of the lens!

The Home Farm, which is a working farm, hosts a number of rare breeds as well as a variety of other animals including donkeys, pigs, sheep, chickens, horses, cattle and many others.

The Grounds often echo to the sound of music as concerts and open air entertainment events are held.   For the more energetic you can also go walking into the adjoining woods.

Kentwell Hall also performs Re-Creations of Tudor Life and these are designed to portray aspects of 16th C. life in as authentic way as possible.  They strive to create for visitors the impression that they are meeting Tudor folk, dressed like Tudors, talking like Tudors and doing the things, in a very Tudor way, that Tudors might have done.

OPENING DAYS are generally on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday during term time and every day during the school holidays.
