Description
Created in the mid 1960's as a reservoir, Grafham Water in Huntingdon offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages, with 1500 acres of beautiful countryside.   A ten-mile perimeter track is great for jogging, walking or cycling and there is excellent sailing, windsurfing and fly fishing.    Grafham Water is an area of Special Scientific Interest and has an excellent nature reserve with nature trails, dragonfly pond, wildlife garden and many many species of birds.

Grafham Water is an ideal place to spend a day or weekend starting or following a hobby.  The Grafham Water Centre offers lots of land based and water based activities including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, powerboating and instructuor training.  Courses are scheduled during evenings and weekends with special activity courses during the school holidays.

Grafham Water Kidz and Teens Club Courses  include a whole range of water sports and land based activities. Take part in Sailing, Climbing, Windsurfing, Archery, Kayaking, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, High Ropes Course and our Low Ropes Course!

You do not need to have tried any of the activities before, just come along to Grafham Water Centre and have a go!  For day and weekend courses the activities start at 9am and finish at 5pm with lunch and refreshments included.

Grafham Water Weekend Courses are also on offer which are not quite so energetic!  These include Jazz Playing, Patchwork Quilting, Yoga & Relaxation and Relief Woodworking.  The Centre provides accommodation, excellent food and refreshments for all weekend courses. There is also a small bar to relax in with your course mates during the evening.

Grafham Water Sailing for those with disabilities is provided through Sailability, a registered charity that provides an opportunity for those with disabilities to sail. The sailing group is organised and run by disabled members with able-bodied helpers.  The group sail every Thursday afternoon from April to October and welcome new members, both sailors and helpers. Any level of ability from novice to expert can come along to any of their meetings.
Single handed 15ft Challenger Trimarans are used by the group, together with 2 double handed Access 303 Dinghys and a 22ft Drascombe Longboat that can be sailed by a group of members.  The club have a specifically designed widened jetty for disabled users with an attachable electronic hoist. Another hoist designed for disabled sailors is used on dry land into the Trimarans. All specialist equipment is provided for those who want to sail, so just turn up!
