Description
The Cambridge Museum of Technology, in addition to the original equipment from the pumping station, holds many examples of products made by Pye of Cambridge and The Cambridge Instrument Company.  Housed in a former workshop is the working exhibition of letterpress-printing equipment ranging from early hand operated presses to power machinery, including hot metal casters.

The original pumping station equipment includes a pair of Hathorn Davey steam pumping engines, a large pair of National gas engines and a set of destructor furnaces which were used to burn rubbish in order to generate steam for the pumping engines.

An inclined railway used at the old pumping station to haul the ash from the boilers for disposal has been reconstructed and can be seen during our steam open days.

The Cambridge Museum of Technology exists to preserve and exhibit material that is relevant to the Cambridge area, either by its use or its invention. Cambridge Museum of Technology's purpose is to promote and enhance appreciation of the role of science and technology and its impact on the environment. Its audience is the general public with particular emphasis on school children.
