Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds is the main town in the borough of St Edmundsbury and is famous for its ruined Abbey which is a shrine to St Edmund, the murdered christian martyr King of East Anglia.

The town grew around the Abbey and was once a site of pilgrimage, developing into a flourishing clothmaking town.  Today Bury St Edmunds is an attractive market town, with a rich and interesting history associated with the Abbey and Cathedral in its grounds.
